Role Overview
The COO – International Vertical will be responsible for leading and scaling the hospital group’s international operations, driving clinical excellence, financial performance, patient experience, and sustainable growth across global markets.
The role requires strong P&L ownership, cross-border operational expertise, and the ability to align international units with the group’s strategic vision and governance framework.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the international growth strategy aligned with the group’s long-term vision.
- Identify new market entry opportunities, partnerships, JVs, and acquisitions.
- Establish global operating standards, governance frameworks, and performance benchmarks.
2. P&L Ownership
- Drive revenue growth, EBITDA margins, and overall profitability across international units.
- Monitor financial performance, cost structures, and capital deployment.
- Ensure strong financial discipline and ROI-based decision-making.
3. Operational Excellence
- Standardize hospital operations across international locations.
- Drive efficiency in clinical operations, supply chain, capacity utilization, and quality metrics.
- Implement best practices in performance management and KPI monitoring.
4. Clinical & Quality Governance
- Ensure adherence to global clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
- Drive accreditation (JCI / NABH International where applicable).
- Promote patient safety, clinical protocols, and evidence-based practices.
5. International Business Development
- Strengthen international patient services and medical tourism channels.
- Build strategic alliances with governments, insurers, and global referral networks.
- Lead branding and positioning of the group in global markets.
6. Leadership & Talent Management
- Build and mentor strong local leadership teams across geographies.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and performance.
- Ensure succession planning and leadership continuity.
Key Requirements
- MD / MBA / Master’s in Healthcare Management (preferred).
- 20–25+ years of leadership experience in hospital operations.
- Strong exposure to multi-location / international healthcare operations.
- Demonstrated P&L management experience (₹300–1000+ Cr equivalent).
- Experience in international expansion, regulatory frameworks, and cross-cultural management.
- Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and board-level communication skills.
