Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, experience with various patient populations, and proficiency with electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality patient care across diverse settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive nursing services, managing patient needs, and supporting overall health outcomes.
Our ideal candidate is someone who has their own license and personal vehicle to get to and from work-sites 30-60 minutes away. They are eager for hours and a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays. Accommodations available for rent for those requesting housing.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in various settings, including acute care, senior care, pediatrics, and home health.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately following physician orders and established protocols.
- Utilize electronic health records systems such as Epic and Cerner for documentation and case management.
- Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and document medical histories with attention to medical terminology.
- Assist with pain management strategies and coordinate care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures and laboratory specimen collection when necessary.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medication usage, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans for patients with dementia, chronic illnesses, or requiring senior or pediatric care.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support medical office functions as needed, including scheduling and patient communication.
Requirements
- Valid RN license for Nova Scotia.
- Proven experience in Canadian hospital settings.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner is highly desirable.
- Experience with pain management, case management, pediatrics, home care, assisted living, nursing homes, or senior/dementia care is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and laboratory procedures like phlebotomy.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including children and elderly patients.
- Prior experience in medical offices or outpatient clinics is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in fast-paced environments.
