Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Manager of Rehabilitation Services is currently seeking a part-time Physiotherapist. The purpose of the position is to plan, implement, evaluate and monitor Physiotherapy services for a caseload of patients/clients as a member of Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care's interprofessional team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assess the level of physical function, independence and performance of patients through interviews, team consultation, observations, and through the use of standardized/non-standardized assessments and tools utilizing a best practice process; assessing other aspects of the patient/client and caregiver supports.
- Collaborate with patients/clients and their caregivers, interprofessional team members and health system partners as appropriate to determine appropriate treatment goals and objectives, as well as contributing to collaborative treatment plans, utilizing Physiotherapy best practice initiatives. Ensure positive engagement and collaboration with patients/clients and their caregivers with respect to the care and treatment offered through Physiotherapy.
- Implement Physiotherapy interventions on an individual basis and/or in group settings including modification and/or termination of treatment plans when appropriate.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and direction to Physiotherapy Assistants in accordance with professional standards.
- Document assessment results, evaluations, patient progress, clinical summaries, etc. according to College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and Waypoint standards and contributing to and collaborating within an interprofessional team.
- Provide consultative and educational services including seminars and workshops and providing supervision/training for Physiotherapy students as required; engaging in regular professional development, self-assessment and appraisal of practice.
- Maintain Physiotherapy equipment in safe working order and more specifically routinely check equipment, and facilitate repairs as required; encourage the team and patients to engage in safe practices.
- Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development in order to continue to provide optimal patient care, including collaboration with professional practice leadership group
- Provide recommendations regarding budget requirements and manage allotted budget within established guidelines and recommending acquisition of equipment and supplies.
- Maintain accurate statistics reflective of performance, including preparing reports as required participation in evaluation, quality improvement and research studies as appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors of Science in Physiotherapy, or a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy is required.
- Must be currently licensed by and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) for practice in all applicable clinical areas
- Current CPR/First Aid is required.
- Physiotherapy theory, best practices and treatment techniques for patients with serious mental illness to assess patient's needs
- Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
- Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to adapt readily to change and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
- Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation)
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills.
