About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Navigator (Temp Contractor) to support a targeted, project-based initiative from our Whispering Pines Lodge in Grande Cache. This is a unique opportunity to participate and support seniors overall well-being.
- This role will lead the clinical and operational navigation of a technology-focused initiative aimed at enhancing resident care and staff support within a senior’s living environment. The successful contractor will assess needs, evaluate solutions, and guide implementation planning in a practical, real-world setting.
- This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role requiring strong clinical insight, systems thinking, and the ability to translate complex needs into workable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Needs Assessment & Prioritization
- Conduct on-site assessments to identify priority care and safety needs, including:
- Falls prevention and detection
- Incontinence management
- Wandering and egress risks
- After-hours monitoring and safety
- Engage with frontline staff and leadership to understand workflows, gaps, and challenges
Technology Review & Evaluation
- Research and shortlist suitable technology solutions aligned with identified needs
- Evaluate options based on:
- Clinical effectiveness
- Ease of use and staff adoption
- Fit within seniors housing environments
- Facilitate stakeholder discussions to assess feasibility
Privacy, Security & Feasibility
- Complete high-level privacy and security assessments (PIPA/FOIP alignment)
- Assess operational feasibility including:
- Infrastructure requirements
- Installation and maintenance considerations
- Impact on staff workload
- Identify risks and mitigation strategies
Implementation Planning
- Lead the selection of technology solutions
- Develop a comprehensive Selection & Implementation Plan, outlining:
- What will be implemented
- Where and why
- How it will be deployed
Evaluation & Reporting
- Collaborate with evaluation partners to develop success metrics and KPIs
- Support the development of an Evaluation Plan
- Provide regular progress updates and reporting to project leadership
- Support stakeholder engagement and change management
Qualifications & Experience
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) designation with active registration in Alberta, or designation as a Paramedic or other regulated healthcare professional with relevant clinical experience. Consideration may also be given to candidates with higher clinical designations.
Experience in:
- Seniors care, supportive living, or long-term care
- Clinical workflows and/or quality improvement initiatives
- Health technology implementation (considered an asset)
- Strong understanding of:
- Resident safety risks (falls, cognitive impairment, continence care, etc.)
- Privacy and security requirements in healthcare environments
Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical judgment and systems thinking
- Ability to translate clinical needs into practical solutions
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Highly organized with the ability to manage project timelines
Working Conditions
- Primarily based out of Whispering Pines Lodge in Grande Cache
- Some travel within the MD of Greenview and Alberta may be required
- Hours may vary based on project milestones and stakeholder needs
