Position: Staff Nurse
Department: Emergency Room (ER) / Labour Room (LR) / Operation Theatre (OT) / Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Reports To: Nursing Superintendent
Job Summary:
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room (ER), Labour Room (LR), Operation Theatre (OT), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role involves patient assessment, monitoring, medication administration, assisting medical procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients.
Monitor and record patients' vital signs and clinical condition.
Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
Assist doctors and consultants during examinations, procedures, surgeries, deliveries, and emergencies.
Provide emergency and critical care management as required.
Prepare and maintain medical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Ensure proper infection control practices and adherence to safety protocols.
Maintain accurate patient records, nursing notes, and departmental documentation.
Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and post-care instructions.
Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of patient care.
Participate in emergency response and resuscitation procedures when required.
Ensure proper handling, sterilization, and maintenance of medical equipment and instruments.
Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical nursing practices.
Comply with all hospital policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Nursing Superintendent or Management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
B.Sc. Nursing or General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).
Valid Nursing Council Registration.
Relevant experience in ER, LR, OT, or NICU is preferred.
Certification in BLS, ACLS, or NRP will be an added advantage.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and clinical skills.
Ability to work in rotational shifts, weekends, and holidays.
