Senior Physiotherapist – Respiratory
Medforce are proud to be working with a Hospital in Kildare for the recruiting of a Senior Physiotherapist. This person will lead, coordinate and deliver high quality physiotherapy services for the patients requiring respiratory care in the acute wards (including ICU) in accordance with the mission, values and strategic plan of the Organisation.
Responsibilities of Senior Physiotherapist – Respiratory
- Perform comprehensive respiratory and physical assessments, formulate evidence-based treatment plans
- Implement advanced interventions such as airway clearance techniques, ventilator weaning support, early mobilisation, and secretion management.
- Provide expert input in tracheostomy care, including suctioning, cuff management (within scope), decannulation planning, and multidisciplinary coordination to ensure safe progression and discharge planning.
- Supervise and support junior physiotherapists and students, contribute to in-service training, participate in audit and service development initiatives, and ensure practice aligns with national guidelines, CORU standards, and organisational policies.
Requirements of Senior Physiotherapist – Respiratory
- Demonstrate evidence of at least 4 months recent experience within the ICU setting
- Demonstrate evidence of experience within the Irish Acute Hospital setting
- Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge from the service with appropriate self-management and signposting.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in respiratory care and tracheostomy care
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the area of respiratory
