Department/Unit/Program Description
Our Pharmacy Department is committed to optimizing the scope of practice for every team member and developing innovative roles within our interdisciplinary care model. Our pharmacists deliver exceptional, direct patient care, while our pharmacy technicians and assistants support a modern, efficient drug distribution system.
Serving RMH as well as the hospital in Haliburton, the department provides comprehensive services including clinical pharmacist support, medication histories in the Emergency Department, unit-dose drug distribution through automated dispensing cabinets, and sterile compounding.
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Unit is currently looking for a permanent full-time Manager of Pharmacy to join their healthcare team.
As the Pharmacy Department Manager, you will play a key leadership role in advancing clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient‑centred pharmaceutical care. You will be responsible for ensuring that pharmacy services meet all applicable provincial and national standards, including those set by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) and the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA).
In this role, you will guide a dedicated team of pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Your leadership will reflect strong professional knowledge, creativity, flexibility, and a commitment to high‑quality care within an interdisciplinary environment.
Working closely with internal teams and community partners, you will also support key initiatives that strengthen patient experience and promote positive relationships with patients, families, staff, physicians, volunteers, and external stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician
- Completion of a CCAPP‑accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program (if registered as a technician)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum five (5) years of hospital pharmacy experience as a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician
- Minimum three (3) years of managerial or supervisory experience in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated experience leading positive change management initiatives
- Strong understanding of hospital operations, personnel management policies, and the ability to interpret and apply these to achieve departmental goals
- Proven ability to manage departmental operating and capital budgets, including monitoring, explaining, and correcting budget variances
- Demonstrated leadership success, including team development, coaching, and performance management
- Proven ability leading successful pharmacy accreditation
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and the public, establishing credibility through professional conduct
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally
- Effective conflict resolution, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and multi‑task in high‑pressure situations
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, with a collaborative approach to decision‑making
- High attention to accuracy and detail
- Commitment to interprofessional practice, professional development, and lifelong learning

Hours of Work
Hours of work for this position are 37.5 hours/week. Must be available for day shift Monday to Friday. Days and hours may change according to departmental requirements.
