We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing (PIC) to lead our Vision and “Care with Integrity, Life with Dignity, and Joy in Every day” in Tara Winthrop Private Clinic. The Role
As Director of Nursing (Person in Charge), you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of resident care. You will be accountable for ensuring safe, high-quality, and person-centred care in full compliance with HIQA regulations.
This role is ideal for an experienced nurse leader who is passionate about excellence in care, confident in building and developing teams, and committed to building a culture of trust, accountability, and respect for residents, families, and staff alike.
What You’ll Do
- Provide strong, visible, and supportive leadership to nursing and care teams.
- Ensure safe, compassionate, and compliant care in line with HIQA standards and Grace Healthcare’s values.
- Mentor, coach, and develop staff to achieve excellence and reach their full potential.
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Lead audits, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement programmes.
- Oversee regulatory compliance and ensure the highest standards of clinical governance.
What We’re Looking For
Professional Registration:
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) in the General Division.
Experience:
- Minimum 6 years post-registration nursing experience, with at least:
- 3 years’ experience in the care of the older person
- 3 years in a management role.
Education / Training:
- A postgraduate qualification in nursing management, healthcare management, leadership, or gerontology (Level 8 or higher) is highly desirable.
- A postgraduate qualification (Minimum level 9 which includes leadership or management modules).
- Shall not apply to a person in charge who is named on the register maintained by the Chief Inspector and/or availing of statutory leave from the position on 31 March 2025.
- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) in clinical care, management, and leadership.
Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth understanding of HIQA Standards, the Health Act 2007, and related regulations.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proven ability to build trust and respect.
- Commitment to the values of Excellence, Trust, Accountability, and Respect in all aspects of practice.
Other Requirements:
- Garda Vetting clearance.
- A genuine passion for resident-centred care and for supporting staff to deliver care of the highest standard.
