Job Profile:
The primary role of the Director of Nursing will be one of professional and business leadership in the day-to-day operations of the home. To achieve this, the Director of Nursing will be required to fulfil, in line with documented policies and procedures, line manager responsibilities in the following areas:
- Governance and Management
- Clinical care
- Social care
- Transitions, transfers, and occupancy management
- Family support
- HR management
- Financial and administration management
- Facility management

The successful candidate must hold the following qualifications and experience to fulfil the requirements of this role:
Professional Registration:
- Must be a Registered Nurse with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience in care of the older person.
- At least 3 years in a nursing management role, preferably within a nursing home or similar long-term care setting.
Education:
- Hold a minimum Level 6 qualification (Ordinary Bachelor’s Degree or higher) in Nursing or a related healthcare field and already be on the DON register.
- Hold a minimum Level 8 qualification (Ordinary Bachelor’s Degree or higher) in Nursing or a related healthcare field or be committed to completing this course.
- A postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management, Gerontology, Healthcare Leadership, or Healthcare Management is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience in care of the older person.
- At least 3 years in a nursing management role, preferably within a nursing home or similar long-term care setting.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: €80,000.00-€100,000.00 per year
