Role Overview:
Reporting to the Regional Clinical Manager or designated leader, the Sleep Clinician will be expected to work daily with clinical and administrative team members to ensure that Aveiro Sleep/ Sleep Medix is delivering the highest level of clinical care and support to current and prospective patients. Our patients are at the center of everything we do.
This position is a full-time, permanent position and will be based out of Lloydminster, AB.
Key Responsibilities:
Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT)
- Review patient history, symptoms, and prescription for Home Sleep Apnea Testing.
- Set up and educate patients on sleep testing equipment.
- Conduct knowledgeable and clear instructions for equipment usage.
- Complete medical questionnaires, obtain patient consent, and ensure appropriate data storage.
- Review and report on HSAT data, liaising with other clinical and administrative staff to ensure timely reports to physician offices.
CPAP Therapy (Fitting and Follow-up)
- Set up and educate patients on CPAP therapy and treatment.
- Titrates CPAP pressure for optimal effectiveness and patient comfort.
- Present, fit, and complete mask sales.
- Download, analyze, and interpret CPAP data.
- Ensure proper cleaning and reprocessing of equipment.
- Charting, report writing, and follow-up with patient compliance.
- Assist with inventory management and equipment maintenance.
Patient Education
- Facilitate one-on-one and group education sessions and deliver informative lectures for patient education events.
- Inform and educate patients and family members on Obstructive Sleep Apnea, CPAP therapy, and other alternative therapies.
Additional Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate with supervisors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Manage stressful situations with composure and professionalism.
- Contribute to clinical and business improvement opportunities.
- Provide support at different clinic locations to assist with business initiatives.
Qualifications:
- RRT, LPN, RN, CPSGT, or RPSGT designations are preferred but Aveiro Sleep/Sleep Medix is willing to train the right candidate regardless of designation.
- Current registration and good standing with your appropriate governing body.
- Strong understanding of respiratory care.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
- Excellent computer and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Willingness to work independently.
Assets:
- Experience in Sleep Diagnostics and CPAP therapy.
- Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) designation.
