Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Dispensing & Prescription Management:
- Accurately dispense prescribed ophthalmic and general medications.
- Verify prescriptions for dosage accuracy, potential drug interactions,
and contraindications.
- Patient Education & Counselling:
- Educate patients on the proper use of eye drops, ointments, and other
medications.
- Provide guidance on dosage, side effects, and storage of medications.
- Inventory & Supply Chain Management:
- Maintain optimal stock levels and track expiry dates.
- Ensure the availability of essential and emergency medications.
- Manage procurement and supplier coordination to prevent shortages.
- Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies and government regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, stock movement, and
controlled drugs.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
- Work closely with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other healthcare
professionals for better patient care.
- Provide expert advice on drug interactions and contraindications.
- Quality Control & Safety:
- Ensure proper storage and handling of pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain hygiene and safety standards in the pharmacy.
- Training & Development:
Train junior pharmacy staff and educate hospital personnel on drug-related guidelines.
- Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmic and general pharmaceuticals. 8. Auditing & Reporting:
- Participate in internal audits and prepare reports on drug usage and stock status.
- Ensure compliance with NABH and other healthcare quality standards
