In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Dentist Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review AI-generated dental and oral-health responses and/or create expert dental content, evaluating reasoning quality and step-by-step clinical problem-solving while providing precise written feedback. You will assess solutions for accuracy, clarity, safety, and adherence to the prompt; identify errors in diagnostic reasoning, treatment planning, pharmacology/antibiotic stewardship, radiographic interpretation logic, contraindications, and patient-safety considerations; fact-check dental/medical information; write high-quality explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct reasoning; and rate and compare multiple responses based on correctness and reasoning quality. This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, delivering training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your dentistry expertise directly helps improve the world’s premier AI models by making their clinical dental reasoning, patient communication, and safety guidance more accurate, reliable, and clearly explained.
Important
There is no immediate project for this role; however, if qualified, you will be among the first experts we reach out to when relevant opportunities arise. This will also provide you with access to future projects available through our expert network.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop AI Training Content: Create detailed prompts and gold-standard answers across oral health, dental diagnosis, treatment planning, emergencies, prescribing, and patient counseling.
- Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve correctness, safety, clarity, and contextual relevance.
- Ensure Model Integrity: Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, unsafe recommendations, and bias; validate reliability across patient populations and use cases.
Your Profile
- DDS/DMD (or equivalent dental degree) and active dental licensure (or eligibility), with strong grounding in oral diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient care.
- 5+ years of professional experience in clinical dentistry (general practice, hospital dentistry, community dentistry, or a dental specialty).
- Confident in clinical reasoning (differential diagnosis, red-flag recognition, urgent vs routine triage) and explaining why a conclusion follows from the evidence.
- Strong understanding of oral disease processes (caries, periodontal disease, endodontic pathology, oral lesions), dental materials, and procedural fundamentals.
- Exceptional attention to detail when fact-checking clinical content and identifying unsafe assumptions, missing contraindications (e.g., anticoagulants, immunosuppression), medication risks, or misinterpretation of findings; minimum C1 English proficiency.
- Comfortable evaluating answers for internal consistency (history/exam → diagnosis → plan), appropriateness for setting (ED vs dental clinic), and patient-safety implications.
- Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.
- Previous experience with AI data training/annotation, clinical documentation review, peer review, utilization review, dental editorial QA, or guideline-based content work is strongly preferred.
