Clinic Officer (Nurse)
AngloGold Ashanti acquired the Sukari gold mine in Egypt through the acquisition of Centamin plc in November 2024. Sukari is owned in partnership with the Egyptian Government.
Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.
The Role
provides round-the-clock emergency medical response, primary healthcare, and occupational health monitoring for all site employees and contractors. Operating in a remote environment, this role is the first line of defence for industrial workplace injuries, acute illnesses, and emergency stabilizations.

The Key Responsibilities
- Emergency & Acute Care: Provide hands-on emergency triage, trauma stabilization, wound care, and manage acute medical conditions in a remote, industrial environment.
- Occupational Health: Conduct routine health checks, including audiometry, spirometry, and vision testing, and manage fitness-for-duty medical clearances.
- Clinic Management: Track, maintain, and audit clinic emergency medical stocks, pharmaceuticals, and lifesaving equipment like defibrillators, oxygen, and trauma bags.
- Medical Records: Manage digital and physical patient medical records, injury tracking logs, and clinical compliance data under strict medical confidentiality protocols.
- Sanitation & Preventive Care: Conduct routine sanitation, camp food-handling, and water-quality audits across site facilities to prevent outbreak risks. Participate in medical screening programs and strategic preventive care strategies for the workforce.
The Requirements
- Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BScN) or a certified Degree in General Nursing from an accredited institution. Valid, active registration and license to practice nursing from the Egyptian Ministry of Health / Egyptian Nursing Syndicate. Current certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support). ITLS (International Trauma Life Support) or PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) is a major asset.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional nursing experience, ideally with at least 1–2 years spent within an industrial site, remote clinic, emergency department, or intensive care unit (ICU). Experience with occupational health .
- Knowledge & Skills: Practical knowledge of running routine health checks and managing fitness-for-duty clearances. Proven ability to conduct workplace hygiene audits. Good computer literacy, especially with MS Office packages for medical logging and reporting. Strong computer skills and professional certificate are non-negotiable.
- Language Capabilities: High proficiency in English (both spoken and written) is non-negotiable for medical logging and reporting
