Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Critical Care Consultant role based in Tirupati at Amara Hospital. The Critical Care Consultant will provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and ongoing management. Responsibilities include supervising and guiding the ICU team, developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans, and coordinating multidisciplinary care with nursing, respiratory therapy, and other specialties. The role involves performing and overseeing critical care procedures, interpreting diagnostic tests, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, infection control standards, and patient safety practices. The consultant will also participate in clinical rounds, documentation, communication with patients’ families, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching or mentoring junior doctors and other clinical staff.
Qualifications
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and postgraduate qualification in Anaesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, or related field with formal training in Critical Care (e.g., DM, DNB, fellowship, or equivalent).
- Valid medical registration and eligibility to practice in the relevant jurisdiction, with substantial experience managing adult ICU patients.
- Strong clinical skills in critical care, including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and emergency procedures (e.g., intubation, central line insertion, arterial lines).
- Proficiency in interpreting ICU investigations such as ABGs, ECGs, radiology, and relevant laboratory tests, and in applying evidence-based guidelines to patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, providing supervision, guidance, and support to junior clinicians and nursing staff.
- Excellent communication skills for discussing care plans with patients’ families, handling critical conversations, and maintaining clear, accurate clinical documentation.
- Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, quality improvement, and adherence to clinical protocols and hospital policies.
- Strong organizational and decision-making abilities, with capacity to function under pressure and manage multiple critically ill patients simultaneously.
