Role Description This is a full-time, on-site MBBS MD (Pharmacologist) role based in Kolkata. The pharmacologist will be responsible for evaluating and optimizing drug therapies, supporting rational prescribing practices, and collaborating with clinicians and pharmacists to ensure safe and effective medication use. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing patient medication profiles, assessing drug interactions and contraindications, and providing evidence-based recommendations to the care team. The role involves participating in clinical rounds, contributing to treatment protocols, and supporting pharmacovigilance activities through monitoring, documenting, and reporting adverse drug reactions. The pharmacologist will also engage in clinical research support, drug utilization reviews, formulary management, and continuous education of medical and pharmacy staff on pharmacology and updated guidelines.
Qualifications
- Recognized MBBS degree and MD in Pharmacology from an accredited institution; valid registration with the appropriate medical council.
- Strong knowledge of clinical pharmacology, therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics, with the ability to apply these concepts in day-to-day patient care.
- Experience with medication safety, pharmacovigilance, and adverse drug reaction monitoring in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Proficiency in interpreting clinical guidelines, research literature, and drug information resources to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Comfort with electronic medical records and basic healthcare IT systems for documenting and reviewing medication-related information.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and a high level of professional integrity.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to provide clear recommendations, training, and documentation.
- Prior experience in a tertiary-care hospital, academic medical center, or clinical research environment is an advantage.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in CMEs, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
