Detailed Job Description
- Assess pain, swelling, range of motion, muscle strength, gait, balance, functional limitations, surgical precautions and patient goals before creating an individual rehabilitation plan.
- Design and deliver therapy sessions using manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, mobility training, strengthening, balance work, breathing exercises, gait training and assistive-device guidance as appropriate.
- Monitor each patient's tolerance, pain response, wound or movement precautions, functional progress and confidence level, modifying intensity and goals safely as recovery improves.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programmes, posture, transfer techniques, walking-aid use, fall prevention, activity restrictions and safe return to daily activities.
- Coordinate with surgeons, physicians, nurses, occupational therapists and case managers to ensure rehabilitation plans align with medical instructions and discharge goals.
- Maintain accurate therapy notes, consent records, outcome measures, progress reports, equipment logs and discharge recommendations for every patient.
- Support patients recovering from joint replacement, ligament repair, fracture fixation, spinal procedures, sports injuries or prolonged hospital stays, depending on assigned caseload.
- Follow facility SOPs, infection-control standards, patient privacy expectations, equipment safety checks and applicable professional licensing requirements.
