Role Description
- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations of employees
- To practice in accordance with the requirements of Good Medical Practice as published by the General Medical Council (GMC), and in accordance with GMC publications on ethical practice including GMC Guidance on Confidentiality.
- Diagnose work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Provide medical clearance for employees returning to work.
- Develop and implement workplace health and safety programs.
- Carry out health risk assessments and workplace inspections.
- Advise on ergonomic improvements to reduce the risk of injuries.
- Monitor and interpret health and safety regulations and ensure compliance.
- Prepare and maintain detailed employee health records.
- Conduct training sessions on workplace health and safety practices.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and safety officers.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of workplace health initiatives.
- Provide guidance on managing occupational stress and mental health.
- Investigate workplace incidents and provide medical insights.
- Identify and champion best practice within the field of occupational health.
Qualifications - Expected standard
- Qualification in occupational medicine (Associateship, Membership or Fellow to the Faculty of Occupational Medicine) i.e. Dip Occ Med
- GMC Registration and license to practice
- Up to date certificates in spirometry and audiometry
- HAVS qualified
- HSE Appointed Doctor for IRR, Asbestos, and Lead
- Oil and Gas medical examination qualified
- Clinical Supervisor
Experience/Delivery of Role Requirements
- High level of clinical knowledge and application to a wide spectrum of occupational health practice
- Sound knowledge of current employment law and health and safety legislation Health and Safety knowledge and experience, e.g. risk assessment, display screen equipment workstation assessment
- Knowledge of IT business software such as Microsoft Office and Orchid Platform
- Sound knowledge of clinical governance and audit practice
- Good communicator with the ability to lead discussions, facilitate presentations to a workforce or at management board level.
- Be prepared to travel within the UK providing occupational health support /advice and be based on client’s site.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience of implementing SEQOHS standards or achieving accreditation
- Group training skills and presentation skills
