Permanent Full Time Staff Nurse
A full-time vacancy has arisen for a Staff Nurse in Maryfield Nursing Home, Athenry, Co. Galway. H65 DD54.
Job Types: Permanent Full Time Salary: Day rate is €22.20 and night rate is €22.85 per hour.
Expected hours: 36 per week Schedule: Day shift / Night shift
Reporting Relationship
The Staff Nurse reports directly to the Director of Nursing / Person in Charge.
Purpose of the Post
To provide efficient and effective direct care to residents.
Key role and responsibilities will include but are not limited to
Provide efficient and effective direct care to residents.
Assume responsibility on each shift for the nursing care of the residents
Provide a positive contribution to the home on a daily basis.
Practice according to the professional code by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and the policies and procedures of Western Alzheimers.
Work to the highest clinical standards ensuring residents safety by adhering to clinical policies and procedures.
Ensure implementation of care plans for each resident at the appropriate time and feedback any changes in the health of the patients to the Director of Nursing/ Clinical Nurse Manager.
Work as part of a team, and also on one’s own initiative.
Participate as a team member of the multi-disciplinary team in all aspects in the delivery of resident’s care.
Attend team meetings as required.
Maintain professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and provide evidence of same annually.
Attend training courses and continuous medical education sessions, both in-house and at other locations, to meet and enhance the service being provided.
Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Manager in the development and implementation of resident care plans.
Undertake clinical audits as directed by the Clinical Nurse Manager or Senior Nurse Manager
Provide handover to staff nurse colleagues on completion of rostered working shift.
Prioritise the workload of the shift, and organise resources as required.
The Successful candidate must have:
Minimum 3 years post registration experience with clinical experience in a medical/surgical or psychiatry setting
General Nursing Qualification
Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
Previous experience in elderly care
A clear understanding of common computer applications.
A clear desire and proven capability to work on your own initiative
A proven interest in advanced nursing practices, and a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
Ability to work independently and provide regular feedback
Position is subject to Garda Vetting
