Maple Manor Nursing Home in Tillsonburg ON is looking for an experienced Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) to join our team.
Reporting to the Director of Care (DOC), the Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) supports clinical leadership and nursing operations at Maple Manor Nursing Home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, resident-centred care aligned with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with legislation, and coordinating with stakeholders to support operational goals.
This role is ideal for a clinically strong and compassionate leader committed to high-quality resident care, team development, and continuous improvement within a long-term care environment.
THE ROLE
- This is an existing vacancy within our Leadership Team and is a permanent full-time position
- Compensation is commensurate with experience (ranging $45-$55 per hour)
- Hours of work are mainly Monday to Friday with at least one (1) night shift and one (1) evening shift per month as well as one (1) weekend per month
- May be required to help cover on the floor as an RN if needed
- Participate in on-call management rotation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Clinical Operations & Quality
- Support the planning, coordination, and evaluation of nursing services while ensuring compliance with College of Nurses of Ontario standards and Ministry of Long-Term Care requirements
- Perform routine audits of the Nursing department
- Perform mandatory RNAO data collection, education and implementation of pathways
- Lead the Falls Prevention program and act as the prime liaison with the Ministry of Long Term Care
Clinical Programs & Assessments
- Oversee and/or participate in clinical programs (e.g., Skin & Wound Care, IPAC, Palliative, Pain and Continence Care) and ensure accurate and timely resident assessments
- Oversee and supervise the medication management program including completing audits, monitor, control, and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics
Quality Improvement & Compliance
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and audit clinical documentation to maintain compliance and enhance care outcomes
Human Resources
- Provide direction to the nursing team in all aspects of resident care and takes on the role of the Director of Care (DOC) in the absence of the DOC
- Assist DOC with performance management and staff education within a unionized environment
Resident-Centred Care & Risk Management
- Participate in Care Conference to discuss residents nursing requirements or changes in care. This includes preparing the information and having crucial conversations with family and residents and addressing their concerns
- Investigate incidents and assist DOC with implementing corrective actions while promoting resident independence and choice
Other
- Assist the DOC with projects and with assigned duties
- Oversee the adequate inventory of nursing supplies
- All other duties as assigned
Staff Leadership & Development
- Provide support, direction and assistance, including problem solving, to the staff, volunteers, students, residents and caregivers
- Assist the DOC in conducting performance reviews, provide coaching, and manage employee motivation
- Evaluate staffing levels and advise Human Resources to recruit new departmental employees
Operational Management
- Facilitate regular huddles and in-service education sessions
- Assist in the development and implementation of departmental procedures and workflows
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards
Financial & Performance Targets
- Assist in analyzing data to improve efficiency
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Knowledge of regulatory standards under FLTCA and O. Reg. 246/22
- Exceptional leadership abilities to direct and motivate employees to perform at their best, encouraging engagement, productivity and loyalty
- Exceptional communication skills that clearly convey expectations, goals, and feedback while actively listening to team members
- Ability to work in a busy environment with minimal supervision
- Demonstration of tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality
- A strong sense of empathy and the ability to provide compassionate care
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (RN)
- Minimum two (2) year Management/Supervisory experience in healthcare, specifically within Long-Term Care
- Familiarity with Point Click Care, Staff Schedule Care, Scriberly, PharmaPod an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

ABOUT MAPLE MANOR
Maple Manor Nursing Home, locally owned and operated, is a long-term care facility located in the downtown core of Tillsonburg Ontario. The home is licensed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and is Accredited through the Person-Centred Long Term Care Community Standards of CARF Canada. The Home is a 101-bed, smoke free facility offering private, semi-private and basic accommodations. In addition, Maple Manor has four temporary licenses for Interim Long-Term Care Home beds through the Aging at Home program. These beds provide a location for residents who would otherwise be kept in hospital while awaiting placement into a Long-Term Care facility.
Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour
