Role Overview
As a Hospital Pharmacist, you will support doctors, nurses, and clinical staff by managing medicines, reviewing prescriptions, checking dosage instructions, monitoring drug interactions, and guiding patients on safe medicine use.
You will also help maintain pharmacy stock, ensure proper storage of medicines, manage expiry dates, support controlled medication procedures where applicable, and contribute to safe and efficient pharmacy operations within the medical centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, safety, interactions, and suitability.
- Dispense medicines and provide clear instructions to patients on proper medication use.
- Support doctors and healthcare professionals with medicine-related information and guidance.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records, prescription documentation, stock registers, and dispensing logs.
- Monitor medicine storage conditions, expiry dates, inventory levels, and stock movement.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, healthcare policies, safety standards, and applicable Malta laws.
- Counsel patients on dosage, side effects, precautions, medicine schedules, and follow-up requirements.
- Support medication reconciliation, especially for patients with multiple prescriptions or chronic conditions.
- Coordinate with suppliers, clinical teams, and administrative staff for smooth pharmacy operations.
- Follow infection control, patient safety, confidentiality, and professional pharmacy practice standards.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should have a recognized qualification in Pharmacy and relevant experience in a hospital, clinic, medical centre, community pharmacy, or healthcare facility.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of medicines, prescription review, drug safety, inventory management, patient counselling, and pharmacy documentation. A valid pharmacy licence, registration, or eligibility to register with the relevant healthcare authority in Malta may be required.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Degree or recognized qualification in Pharmacy.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this Hospital Pharmacist job in Malta is €30,000 to €54,016 per year, depending on qualifications, professional registration, experience, and suitability for the position.
