Detailed Job Description
- Assess patients through history-taking, clinical examination, review of vitals, investigation reports and risk factors before preparing a provisional management plan or escalating to the consultant.
- Manage ward, OPD and emergency presentations within the scope of the role, including fever, pain, respiratory symptoms, dehydration, minor injuries, chronic-disease follow-up and stabilisation support.
- Prescribe medicines, investigations, referrals, procedures and follow-up instructions as per hospital protocols and applicable medical registration requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants for admissions, rounds, discharge planning, clinical updates and urgent reviews, ensuring that patient information is communicated accurately and promptly.
- Work closely with nursing teams to review medication charts, fluid orders, vitals, deterioration signs, patient complaints, procedure preparation and discharge readiness.
- Maintain complete medical records including progress notes, discharge summaries, referral letters, consent documentation, certificates and medico-legal records where applicable.
- Counsel patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, expected recovery, red flags, medicine use and follow-up visits in clear, respectful language.
- Participate in clinical audits, infection-control practices, emergency drills and quality-improvement activities that support safe patient care and better hospital operations.
