The Medical Records Officer will ensure that inpatient and outpatient records are received, checked, indexed, coded or filed as per hospital policy, and stored securely. The role includes tracking missing documents, supporting discharge-summary completion, maintaining birth, death, procedure or medico-legal registers where applicable, retrieving records for authorised purposes, coordinating insurance or audit documentation, and entering accurate information into the hospital information system. The officer will also monitor confidentiality practices, support record-retention schedules and prepare periodic reports for hospital management.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be systematic, discreet and comfortable handling sensitive patient information. They should be able to follow timelines, coordinate with clinical teams without conflict and identify documentation gaps before they become operational or compliance problems. Knowledge of ICD coding, NABH documentation expectations or electronic medical-record systems will be preferred.
