Role & Responsibilities
- Provide on-site primary medical care and first-aid management for students and staff during school hours and extracurricular events.
- Perform routine health screenings, growth and development checks, and maintain up-to-date immunization records.
- Assess, triage, and treat acute illnesses and injuries; initiate emergency stabilization and coordinate timely referrals or ambulance transfers.
- Document medical encounters, incident reports, and communicate clinical updates to parents/guardians and school leadership.
- Advise school management on infection control, communicable disease prevention, and health-policy implementation (e.g., exclusion criteria, vaccination drives).
- Deliver age-appropriate health education sessions and support periodic medical camps and specialist referrals.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS degree from a recognised institution
- Valid registration with the State Medical Council (required)
- Clinical experience in primary care, pediatrics, or emergency triage (experience in school health preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficiency in medical documentation and maintaining student health records
- Ability to provide first aid and emergency response on campus
Preferred
- Previous locum or contractual experience as a school medical officer
- Training or experience in adolescent health, occupational health, or public health
